Invasive Non Native Species on the River Irwell

We are currently working with a number of land owners and engaging with Groundwork Greater Manchester (the host organisation for the Irwell Catchment Partnership) to tackle invasive land based plant species on the River Irwell in the Rossendale Valley. This is a long term project that is being lead by our dedicated team of INNS specialists.

As a community interest company we are not charging any individual for this work. We are funding this via donations, and income generated elsewhere within the business, we have also applied for a number of grants.

If you own property or land that is adjacent to the River Irwell or it’s tributaries between Weir and Rawtenstall and have any invasive species on your land we would love to hear from you so that we could tackle these.

You can help us with this project by donating to us via our just giving page, or you can even volunteer with us. To volunteer you must be over 18, be relativity fit and well due to the physical nature of the work, and be able to attend training and volunteer days usually at weekends.

We will provide all training and equipment required, depending on the type of work that we are undertaking. We may operate in all weathers and work both in the river and on the adjacent banks.

To report species that you are aware of in this area or for volunteering enquiries please contact our dedicated email address RiverIrwell@Restore-Environmental.Org.UK
